For Parents

Earn a Diploma. Build a Future.

We understand that choosing a high school for your child is one of the most important decisions a family makes. Here’s what you need to know about YSA — honestly, clearly, and completely.

The Real Stuff First

The two questions every parent asks us.

YSA students in a campus classroom learning core academic content

01

A fully accredited Alberta High School Diploma.

YSA students earn the same diploma as any other Alberta high school — recognized by every Alberta post-secondary institution. All required credit hours in Math, English, Science, and Social Studies are met through YSA’s agriculture-integrated curriculum. Same standards. Same credential. Different way of getting there.

02

Safety is built into every program, every day.

The YSA campus operates under Prairie Rose Public Schools safety policies. Agricultural safety is embedded into every program from day one — equipment safety, chemical handling, animal safety, and emergency response. YSA maintains the same supervision standards as all Prairie Rose schools.

Post-Secondary Pathways

YSA graduates have real options the day they graduate.

Whether your child wants college, university, an apprenticeship, or to walk straight onto a working operation, the path is already built.

Pathway 01

Agricultural College

Olds College, Lethbridge College, NAIT, and Lakeland College — the specialty programs that train the next generation of producers.

Pathway 02

University

U of A and U of L — Agriculture, Environmental Science, Biology, Business and beyond. YSA students arrive with a real foundation.

Pathway 03

Trades Apprenticeship

Welder, Heavy Equipment Technician, Agricultural Equipment Mechanic — high-demand trades with rural Alberta employers.

Pathway 04

Direct Industry Employment

Graduates step into roles through YSA’s industry partner network — with certifications, references, and real experience already in hand.

Dual-Credit Partnerships

Earn post-secondary credits before graduation.

YSA’s dual-credit partnerships with Medicine Hat College, Lakeland College, and Olds College give Grade 11 and 12 students a head-start on post-secondary credits while still in high school. See which programs offer dual-credit hours.

Costs

Every family’s situation is different.

YSA is a public school operated under Prairie Rose Public Schools. Costs vary depending on a student’s home school district, residency, and individual situation. We aim to keep costs minimal — please reach out to learn what attending YSA could look like for your family.

Schedule a Visit

Nothing answers questions like seeing the school in person.

We encourage all prospective families to schedule a campus tour. Walk the farm, meet the team, and ask every question that matters.
